Do you believe in the evolution of human consciousness?

Posted on Jul 18th, 2008 by Sandi : Interrelation Tester Sandi
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 18, 2008:

Well, it's rare that I find myself being on the optimistic end of a discussion but having just glanced at the two responses on the home page--both feeling negatively, I am going to really savor this opportunity.
Yes, wholeheartedly I believe that consciousness evolves and equally wholeheartedly that we are!!  I don't particularly separate "human" consciousness from the "one" consciousness out of which I believe all things arise.  Even prominant, though sometimes/somewhat renegade scientists are promoting this vision of life.
Just take "gaia" as an example, all of us gathered here communicating on these topics, sharing our views on how to make the world a better place.  And there are hundreds of sites published by people who also share this goal and do their part to spread the word about how to evolve more effectively or quickly.
The number of alternative health practitioners is another example.  We are really beginning to believe that we can, and are, taking responsibility for our own well-being.  We no longer see ourselves as some kind of machine with spare parts that we can just cut out at whim.
We're able to discuss philosophies and needs and solutions with people all around the world--and many of us do.  We can, and do, offer help to our brothers and sisters no matter how far away--and we learn from them.
I think we're finally beginning to "get out of our heads" as Alan Watts was fond of saying and looking toward living from the heart--which so many religions (though I'm not a religious person per se) have taught for centuries as the "mode d'operandi" of choice.
Sometimes I feel like we're evolving so fast it makes my head spin........but then why am I there in the first place:>)
Wow, I'm an optimist.  I love it:>)

hahaha That's a good sign, to see that the most dismal, self-professed pessimist is seeing signs too. That's gotta mean SOMETHING!

Anyway, you're not alone in your optimism. And for sure if you look around with your 'fresh' eyes, you might see a bunch more regular, everyday changes as well. Keep me posted :D

Blessings and regards, sherri

Hi Sherri,
a “dismal, self-professed pessimist” isn't ever what I'd have considered myself.    I took the time to re-read my post  thinking I'd definitely put the words together in some wierd way but don't  get that impression even upon closer inspection.  Thank you Jesus:>)
I'm a Heartmath Provider with additional Certifications in Energy Medicine and Energy Psych–it's just that I've felt like we weren't all on the same page–or at least not enough of us.
Been watching too much Democracy Now, Free Speech TV and hearing too much truth I guess.
But when I read the comments from people saying that they didn't believe we were evolving–on a conscious level–I had to realize that I am more optimistic about our progress than I might otherwise have noticed:>)
Strangely when I read your profile I saw that we've said many of the same things, making reference to the multitude of sites promoting the new world view/paradigm.   I'm glad we're on the same page.
I know our consciousness has been evolving at a rapid pace–like I said, makes my head spin.    I was just so pleased to find that my flash response was to be optimistic!!
Thanks a bunch for replying and have a great week-end.

lol I did exaggerate a little there didn't I? I plead academia. I was working at a University office today and I think I got carried away!

But I am happy to see we're on the same page, yes. And that your first inclination was to be optimistic; I'm ever the eternal optimist and am normally the one pulling people along, but it can get quite exhausting at times.

It's encouraging to see the facts speak sufficiently for themselves that a discerning onlooker can come to hopeful conclusions also.

This is really good for me and will help me to have a great weeken! I wish you the very same. sherri

Play and have fun!
I get too serious when I hear what's going on in our country these days…………
I heard recently that because of all the foreclosures in places like Florida and California where many of the houses have pools, with those pools falling into disrepair, cases of West Nile fever and malaria are beginning to show up………….
And now that one major bank has gone down, there are expectations that another 150 or so will follow–
Way back in 1964 Lyndon Johnson (of all people imagine) has been quoted as saying:  “We must learn to love each other or we must die.”
What have we been doing for the past 44 years that we haven't moved further than we have?–
But I'm still like the little train that went along–“I know we can, I know we can”:>)   You know why?    Because all these disasters are going to force us to interdependence.   It's the only way.
So for the week-end–just have FUN.   I'm sure you know that laughter massages your inards.

Hello Sandi, There is saying that I have always held onto in the back of mind and so for those times when we can't take what we'er being shovelled and transfer it into the engine of that train here it goes : A pessimist is just an over worked optimist. CHOO CHOOooo

Indeed Sandi, I am international. I balance news from the States and the rest of the developed world with my interactions in the developing world where there is a lot more bald, sincerity in the communications. This helps to bring perspective I have to say.

There is a strong degree of panic in the States relative to many other places in the world, but in natural terms, it is because of the attachment to specific things that only have so much life contributing value. It's sad but so ironic that communicable diseases are affecting the U.S.! As an outsider looking in it's fairly crazy to imagine, but then again so was Katrina etc.

Anyway, like one2we said, that inner engine is what we should put our energies into, using whatever energy source is available. The shovelled stuff could at least trigger a laugh for us lol Gratefulness for my own pretty comfortable state will be a different but probably more sustaining shovel though.

Will definitely try for a relaxing weekend and let things continue to unfold for the bigger good.

Thanks again! sherri

Really great chatting with you both–a little support, like-mindedness:>) goes a long way.    I think you're absolutely right Sherri about our attachment to a mateialist perspective–it's how success is measured in our culture.   Maybe these difficulties will encourage the majority to reassess………

And one2we, I love your little saying.  I'll remember that one–and keep on shovelling:>)

It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood, a good day to play outdoors.

Have a great day as well.
